On April 20,
2004, Dr. Long L¨³, vice director of Shanghai Institute of
Organic Chemistry (SIOC) CAS and Chairman of Shanghai TL
Chemical Co., Ltd (STLC) paid a visit to Powerzinc Electric
(Shanghai), Inc. together with Mr. Huangkuan Kong, the
Executive Vice General Manager of STLC.
STLC was
established in Feb. 2002, organized and set up by Shanghai
Institute of Organic Chemistry of Chinese Academy of
Sciences (SIOC), Shanghai Tong Ji Science & Technology
Industry Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Shen Li Hi-tech Co., Ltd.
STLC, a hi-tech company, is mainly engaged in the research
and development of the key materials and components of
Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) such as Proton
Exchange Membrane (PEM), Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA)
and Flow Field Plates etc.; meanwhile it also engages in the
development of and technical service for fine chemical
products. STLC currently assumes the responsibilities of
both developing innovative projects for CAS and the National
Hi-tech Research and Development Program (customarily called
863 program) for The Ministry of Science and Technology of
China.
Dr. L¨³, Long
had the experience of working in Dupont (US) Company, the
world largest Chemical Company. He has been engaged in the
research and development of organic fluoride chemistry and
fluoric materials. Currently, he is the specialist in the
Specific Theme Group for materials of special functions in
the field of advance materials in the 863 Program. He is
quite familiar with the research and development of the
various fuel cells and related materials. During the visit,
Dr. L¨³ got acquainted with Powerzinc¡¯s product - DQFC zinc
air fuel cells, its development progress, technical
advantages, business pattern and current market feedbacks in
detail, he also visited the plant and tried the e-bike
powered by DQFC zinc air fuel cells. He appreciates very
much the everlasting efforts that Powerzinc has been
endeavoring to promote the industrialization of zinc air
fuel cells and the outstanding achievements already
acquired. Dr. L¨³ considers that DQFC series of zinc air
fuel cells, as a kind of power cell, has tremendous
potentials and vast developing spaces.
As STLC is
rather strong in the R&D of fuel cell materials and in the
organic synthesis field, Powerzinc Electric and STLC reached
a friendly cooperation agreement during the visit. In the
future, STLC will actively cooperate with Powerzinc to
develop the key materials used in DQFC zinc air fuel cell to
enhance the product performance and reduce the cost at a
large scale, thereby to speedup the progress of market
popularization of DQFC zinc air fuel cells, which are the
most advanced fuel cells in the world.
