Powerzinc met with city officials of Chongqing to discuss cooperation in motorcycle industry

The Chief Executive Officer of Powerzinc Electric, Inc., Mr. Richard Yang has met with the city officials from economic development and strategic planning departments, zinc air fuel cell researchers and leaders of Chongqing motorcycle industry, an industry with over RMB 500 million being invested, to share Powerzinc’s advance zinc air fuel cell technologies and explored possibilities of collaborations between Powerzinc and the City of Chongqing.

Chongqing is one of the most important industrial cities in southwest China with motorcycle industry being its economic pillar. Currently, the annual outputs of Chongqing’s motorcycle industry is five million units and it is going to reach to seven million in five years. However, the industry is threatened by bans of use of motorcycles in close to 150 cities in China because of the noise and emission. Its growth is in question unless some immediate actions taken to directly address those issues. One clear direction is to develop electric motorcycles.

Powerzinc’s DQFC20 series are designed with electric motorcycle application in mind. With a total weight of 34 kilograms (61.2 lbs), a 48 V zinc air fuel cell pack can deliver a driving distance of over 250 kilometers (160 miles). Estimated refueling costs is only US$ 4.00 (RMB 35), extremely competitive against gasoline fuel.

Chongqing policy makers and motorcycle industry leaders welcomed Powerzinc’s participation in jointly develop quiet, clean and high-performance electric motorcycles. Ideas of establishing industrial parks, joint-ventures and forming strategic alliances were discussed in the meeting. This meeting marks a solid start of Powerzinc’s entrance in the world’s most lucrative electric motorcycle market. Currently, preparations and follow-up negotiations are underway.
