Shanghai ）A delegation from Teck Cominco Metals Ltd., one of
the largest metal mining giant in the world with its
headquarters in Canada, visited Powerzinc in Shanghai at
this afternoon. The members are Dr. John F.H.Thompson (Vice
President , Technology), Mr. Richard Mundie (Vice President,
Asia Affairs and Chief Representative in China), Dr. Gregory
Zhang (R & D Manager – Senior Scientist for Corrosion and
Zinc Batteries) and Mr. John Chen (the Director for Chinese
Business Development in its Beijing office).
Dr. John
F.H.Thompson said during the visiting to
Powerzinc, that Teck Cominco has accomplished a great deal
in the industry. It has advanced technologies and also one
of the most diversified companies. It has started developing
extended products on various mining products and been
conscientious about zinc’s unique application in new energy
and its important implication to company’s future. Through
this visit, they would like to enhance the existing
collaboration with Powerzinc, but also to attempt to
understand gove
rnmental
supports from Shanghai city and the Pudong New District
Government of the city on the up-coming demonstration of
electric city transit buses powered by Powerzinc’ s zinc air
fuel cells. This will provide necessary evidence for the
project technologic and commercial feasibility and also
build foundations for Powerzinc’s farther zinc air fuel
cells to use alternative zinc f
uel
technology or products to be developed from Teck Cominco.
The guests
saw the production lines and learned current production
status in Powerzinc Electric (Shanghai), Inc. They also rode
in the demo bus to feel the actual ride experiences. After
the meetings with the officers of the People’s Congress
Council of Shanghai city and the Pudong New District
Government of the city, they expressed their full confidence
in collaborating with Powerzinc in the future.
