Industry, California, Feb. 17, 2003, as the first official
industry partner of US/China Energy and Environmental
Technology Center (EETC), Powerzinc is proud to announce
that Dr. Shieh-Tsing (ST) Hsieh has agreed to serve as a
Special Advisor to the Chairman of Board, Mr. Robert
Kripowicz and CEO, Mr. Richard Yang, effective immediately.
In his capacity as the Special Advisor, Dr. Hsieh will
provide his input on strategy partnership formation,
private-public networking, fund raising and project/market
development.
Dr. Hsieh
is currently a full Professor of Electrical Engineering and
Computer Science at Tulane University in New Orleans,
Louisiana. He has served as the Managing Director of
US/China Energy and Environmental Technology Center (www.tulane.edu/~uschina.)
since 1997. EETC is a unique organization jointly funded by
the governments (mainly the US Department of Energy and the
Environment Protection Administration) and industry
partners. The specific mission of EETC is to promote the
efficient, responsible production and utilization of clean
energy. EETC¡¯s main office is located in Tulane University.
Its branch offices include EETC Los Angeles office in
Powerzinc¡¯s headquarters in City of Industry, California,
EETC Shanghai office in Powerzinc Electric (Shanghai), Inc.,
and EETC Beijing office in Tsinghua University. EETC offices
in China received supports from Powerzinc, Tsinghua
University and the US government. The Ministry of Science &
Technology of China also supports EETC¡¯s projects.
Dr. Hsieh
developed his career in academics; he was an Electrical
Engineering faculty member at University of New Orleans and
Purdue University, respectively in the 1970¡¯s. From 1986 to
1992, he was the Department Head, Department of Electrical
Engineering at Tulane University. He has also been a
Visiting Professor at Shangdong Institute of Light Industry
in city of Jinan, Shandong Province, China since 1997.
His
research interest and publications are very broad covering
plasma physics, biological effects of electromagnetic
fields, telecommunications, environment and clean energy,
and US-China relations. He is the Director of the Pacific
Rim Center and the US/China Institute at Tulane University,
respectively. He was a consultant to the US Naval Ocean
Research and Development Activity, J. C. Stennis Space
Center, MS in the 1980¡¯s. From 1992, he has been an Advisor
to the Science and Technology Commission, Xian, Shanxi
Province, China.
Dr. Hsieh
holds a PhD and MS degree in Electrical Engineering
respectively from Tulane University, and a BS degree from
the Department of Electrophysics, National Chiao Tung
University in Taiwan. He is an active member of Tau Beta Pi,
Eta Kappa Nu, Sigma Xi, and American Society for Engineering
Education.
