Mr. D.Q. Yang,
CTO of Powerzinc, and Dr. S.T. Hsieh, Special Advisor
of CEO of Powerzinc, were invited to attend the conference
of ¡°Tactical Power Sources 2004¡± held in Crystal City,
close to Pentagon on Jan.27-30, 2004, hosted by IDGA.
The Institute for Defense and Government Advancement
(IDGA) is an organization having great influence on
decision makers of military, government and defense
industries. IDGA¡¯s mission is to inform leaders in government
and defense of the latest innovations and best practice
related to joint transformation, logistics and procurement,
operations, strategy and plans, and information warfare.
Besides, IDGA bridges the military and government with
industries.
Due to the rapid growing of the electronic and informational
technologies of the armed forces, the gap between the
demand and supply of the power are desperately increased.
That¡¯s why IDGA hosted this conference to evaluate the
problems and possible solutions of the tactical power
sources for present and the future. About 200 attendees
came from industries, enterprises, institutes, universities
and different departments of military. Almost all the
speakers are military professionals. Their lectures
even include the feedbacks from the soldiers, the complain
of unsatisfactory energy and weight of the existing
standard batteries equipped. Besides, the more electronic
equipments equipped, the more energy needed. Military
hopes the industries bridge the gap as quick as possible.
It was a surprise, the Chief of Army Power Division,
U.S.Army CERDEC, eulogizes the highest energy density
of the primary zinc air battery in his lecture, ¡°Portable
Power Source for the Soldier¡±.
Chief of the Power Source Branch, U.S. Army CECOM,
encourages to use primary zinc air battery as an energy
source to recharge the standard battery equipped in
his lecture, ¡°Portable Power for the Warfighter¡±.
Representative from Power & Energy Systems, Natick
Soldier Systems Center, asks to lower the burden of
soldiers by reducing the weight of the portable batteries
and increasing the energy content.
Marine Corps. has the same requirement about the primary
zinc air battery.
Merely from the
above few examples, it¡¯s enough to know that the
military has the immediate demand and enough
understanding of the zinc air battery.
